Seeing Stars After A Dump Truck Accident

Lindsay Lohan uninjured in crash with dump truck

On June 8th, Actress Lindsay Lohan was driving her black Porsche and collided with a dump truck while on her way to the movie studio to film her latest project, “Liz & Dick”. While no one was injured during the accident, not all victims who experience an accident with a large dump truck will walk away without injury.

New York is a melting pot of industry, which means that tractor trailers and other large transportation vehicles are common occupiers of NY roads. Not only does this mean that more care should be taken while driving in New York, but it also means that truck collisions or crashes with large tractor trailer vehicles increases your risk of danger on the highways and byways.

Why? Dump trucks, 18 wheelers, semi trucks and large commercial vehicles are much harder to maneuver, take more time to stop, and can obstruct the view of other vehicles on the road.

Also, while the number of irresponsible drivers on the road is the same no matter what type of vehicles are present, when an accident with a large truck is caused by an irresponsible driver, the consequences are typically more severe in causing serious injuries.  We all need to be cautious when driving the highways in New York City and highly alert when getting close to large big rig trucks. Your life is much more valuable than trying to save 5-10 minutes by being in a hurry and driving recklessly. Get into the habit of being courteous on the highways and do your best to never cut in front of a large semi-truck.
