Stephen R. Covey, author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, dead after bike accident
On Monday, July 16th 2012, Stephen R. Covey, the bestselling author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, died three months after a bicycle accident in Utah that left him in stable condition. Initially, he responded to medical staff and family members, but he was being treated for bleeding on the brain. His daughter informed reporters that he was being monitored for further bleeding and brain swelling. The video clip below gives you a small glimpse into his wisdom that life is a process for personal growth and development.
Stephen Covey was injured while riding down a steep hill in Provo, Utah. Witnesses say that he took a corner too fast and was thrown from his bike. Although he was wearing a helmet, he was still knocked unconscious when he suffered the fall.
When you ride a bicycle, make sure you follow the important safety tips listed below to prevent you from suffering a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or a serious fatality.
Safety Tips for Bicycle Riders:
Wear a DOT approved helmet at all times.
Wear protective clothing that provides some protection in case of a fall. Reflective clothing or bright colors makes it easy for other motorists to spot you on the road. You may not look cool, but who cares, your physical and mental health is at stake so be prudent.
Never ride a bicycle after drinking alcohol. Your ability to be alert and drive safely is greatly impaired when you drink alcohol.
Implement extra caution when driving a bike, especially when traveling on wet roads, slippery surfaces or when you go over gravel on the street.
